This glider is equipped with an Acoustic Zooplankton Fish Profiler (AZFP), an autonomous, low-power echo sounder that possesses the capabilities to study the abundance, distribution, and behavior of various sizes of fishes and large zooplankton throughout the water column over large spatial scales by measuring acoustic backscatter returns with ultrasonic frequencies. This 3-4 week deployment will test the use of gliders for conducting fisheries and ecosystem surveys in and around the Ocean Wind study site. The AZFP used on this deployment is configured for fish detections (38, 120, and 200 kHz) and this dataset contains the AZFP data analysis output from Echoview. Performed 4 x per year for two years pre-construction. In each season, four to five turbine sites in the lease area and four to five phantom turbine sites in the control area will be visited. Two Baited Remote Underwater Videos (BRUV) are placed 60 m off of the turbine and a string of six Chevron traps (first deployed 60 m off of the turbine, subsequent traps set 150 m from last trap) will be deployed at each station. Target soak time for the Chevron traps are 90 minutes and soak time for the BRUV is 60 minutes. A drifting rod and reel surveys for eight minutes at the turbine or phantom turbine location. Evaluates changes in species biomass, size frequency, and condition, and community assemblage. The objectives of this study are to use passive acoustic telemetry to provide measures of behavior related to fish passage, residence, habitat use, and connectivity between Ocean Wind leasing area and coastal estuaries. Tagging efforts focused on smooth dogfish and skates, summer flounder, windowpane, and black sea bass. Specimens were tagged within the study area using V13 tags. Black sea bass were externally tagged while all other species had transmitters surgically implanted. Receivers included VR2W and VR2Tx and were deployed both as a static array (collectionCode ACT.RUMFSWIND) and during brief periods of sampling at stations during the Structured Habitat Survey portion of this Fisheries Management Plan (collectionCode ACT.SHS3974). This dataset includes detections by receivers funded by the Orsted OW01 of tags/transmitters funded as part of the same project.
