| attribute | NC_GLOBAL | summary | String | The Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) Surfclam Fisheries Monitoring Plan sought to acquire one year of pre-construction data at the CVOW site with a focus on Atlantic surfclam in an effort to establish a baseline condition and characterization of the Atlantic surfclam resource in and near the lease area. The target for each tow is 5 minutes at 2.5 knots with a goal of twenty stations in the lease area and another twenty at the control site. Thirty-eight stations were sampled in total for this survey. The dredge is a modified commercial clam dredge to better sample younger clam sizes (Munroe et al., 2023). For each tow, the total volume of clams caught, a subsample volume, and the number of individual clams caught in the subsample and their shell length were recorded. The realized tow distance was calculated from dredge sensor data that records time on bottom and time hauled back, and vessel track recordings. |
